OneSteel Whyalla Steelworks (formerly BHP Long Products Division) is a major source of finished steel product such as structural steel sections and rails and also manufactures both special bar quality (SBQ) & commercial grade billet feed for OneSteels general business operations OneSteel Whyalla Steelworks produces approximately 1.2 million tonnes of raw steel each year and as the main industry to our home town they have provided us with many opportunities to offer our services. In return we have won numerous projects of varying applications and complexity. Heres a brief look at some of our more recent projects.
- BOS Department – New stainless steel (SAF2205) ductwork for Precipitators (2004)
- BOS Department – Manufacture, testing and heat treatment 130T Ladle (2002)
- BOS Department – Pressure welding, testing and heat treatment of new #2 Furnace Vessel (1999)
- Blast Furnace – Manufacture and install Gas Demisters (2000)
- Blast Furnace – Manufacture and install Gas Piping (2000)
- Blast Furnace – Manufacture for reline, new top charging system structure (through subcontractor United KG, 2004)
- Pellet Plant – Manufacture, painting and erection of pedestrian footbridge over railway lines (2001)
- Sydney Mill – Manufacture, testing and heat treatment of 85T Ladle (2002)
- Manufacture and erection of Stockbridge Crane Boom (through subcontractor, Krupp Engineering, 2002)
